The Mt Gilead Church of Christ began when a small group of believers gathered together with passion to start a Church of Christ within the village of Mt Gilead. The year was 1963. They began meeting in the local Grange hall, but soon began holding services in the Seniors on Center building. The church hired its first full-time minister, Dale Snell in 1963 who ministered with the church for twenty-eight years until his retirement.
